Stephen S. Coull, 64; Retired Home Improvement Contractor; Marine Corps Veteran

The calling hours and funeral service for the Plantsville resident are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17.

Stephen S. Coull, 64, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014.

Born July 4, 1950, in Chicago, IL to the late Andrew and Shirley (Harding) Coull, he was a longtime Plantsville resident.

Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked for Goodyear before starting his own business as a home improvement contractor, retiring in 2013 after 24 years. Stephen was a volunteer firefighter for 13 years in Company 3 in Plantsville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 72. He loved to work on cars and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was the loving husband of Anna (Varrone) Coull for 39 years.

In addition to his wife, Stephen is survived by his son Scott Coull and his wife Shifali of Silver Spring, MD; his two brothers, Andrew Glenn Coull of Vero Beach, FL and Ian Coull of Jackson, TN, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Gregory Coull.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be held before the service from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephen’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1075 Chase Pkwy Waterbury, CT 06708.
