Temporary Injunction Issued Against Southington Solar Panel Project
A judge granted an injunction and a full hearing on the Hatton Meadow solar project will be held.

A judge issued a temporary injunction that will prevent solar panel installation at Hatton Meadow.
Work was scheduled to begin on July 27, according to a press release from the Save Hatton Meadow Coalition.
A full hearing is scheduled for August 3.

The Save Hatton group argues that the town is misusing a state statute that allows it to circumvent zoning laws because the solar panels would be a “municipal improvement.”
The solar panel project is predicted to save the town about $42,000 annually, according to the Record-Journal. A half-dozen neighbors requested the temporary injunction.

The town contracted the project out to Greenskies and will purchase electricity from the company that is generated by the solar panels.
