Toddler Nearly Drowns At Southington Pool Party: Police

The 2-year-old had fallen into a pool on Sunday, with an adult on scene reviving the unconscious child, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A pool party in Southington Sunday nearly turned tragic, but thanks to a quick-thinking bystander, a 2-year-old child's life was saved.

According to the Southington Police Department, local police and an AMR ambulance were called to Autumn Drive Sunday for a report of a child falling into a pool, with CPR being administered by an adult on the scene.

When police and ambulance personnel arrived, the child had regained consciousness and was crying, the SPD said in a statement.

Police said the child had snuck away from adults and fell into the pool.

The toddler was taken to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford as a precaution for further evaluation, police said.

Police conducted an investigation and notified the state Department of Children and Families "for lack of supervision on the part of the parent of the child," police said.
