Man Dead After Being Hit By Tractor Trailer In Southington: UPDATE

The 38-year-old Hartford resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 38-year-old Hartford man was killed early Tuesday morning after being struck by a tractor trailer on Interstate 84 in Southington.

According to Connecticut State Police, the victim has been identified as Eddie J. Hill, 38, of Sumner Street, Hartford.

State police said the collision happened at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday on I-84 east in Southington, resulting in the road being closed for several hours.

Police said a tractor trailer, owned by Pensky Logistics LLC and being driven by a 59-year-old East Hartford man, was traveling on I-84 east near Exit 31.

According to state police, the pedestrian — later identified as Hill — was located directly in the right lane in front of the truck.

The operator of the truck pulled over into the right shoulder of the highway, police said, and was not injured.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

This collision remains under investigation.
