Truck's High Wire Act Causes Traffic Delays In Southington

A high wire act involving a truck with a crane caused traffic havoc in Southington on Wednesday, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A high wire act involving a truck with a crane caused traffic havoc in Southington on Wednesday, police said.

At 10:54 a.m. on Wednesday, Southington Police responded to the area of Queen Street (state Route 10) and Lazy Lane on a report about wires down.

A crane truck had been exiting Lazy Lane and, while, turning north onto Queen St. when it came in contact with cable and phone wires and pulled them down onto the roadway.

Power was not affected by the incident, police said, but traffic was down to one lane into the afternoon southbound on Queen Street, police said. Northbound traffic was being detoured from Route 10 onto Flanders Street to Annelise Avenue, then to Loper Street and back onto Queen Street, police said.

Lazy Lane was closed to all but local traffic just prior to the intersection of Queen Street and Queen Street itself was not accessible from Lazy Lane, police said.

The incident is still under investigation and no injuries were reported. The delays were expected to last into the afternoon period.
