Water Project Prompting Detours in Southington
A water project will be bringing several detours to a section of Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Motorists in Southington are bracing for some sizable detours in one section of town.
Starting on Wednesday, traffic patterns will be altered by an ongoing Southington Water Department project on Hill Street between Water Street and Beecher Street and on Rourke Avenue between Hill Street and Mill Street, police said.
The project is expected last several weeks, police said, and motorists can expect delays, lane closures and detours in the area.

"We are urging people to use an alternative route during the project," police said.
Detours will be in effect daily between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Signs will be in place and officers will be stationed in the area to direct motorists around the detours and assist locals with access to their homes.

Police said the first phase of the project will close Hill Street between Rourke Avenue and Water Street to vehicular traffic. Traffic will be detoured out to Mill Street, police said.
