Woman Arrested After Striking Vehicles, Pole in Southington

A Plantsville woman was arrested after she crashed into a pole and caused power lines to catch on fire, police said.

Rebecca Cello, 38, was allegedly driving while drunk and was involved in two accidents on July 18.

She was involved in a motor vehicle accident in the area of Main Street and Carter Lane that involved another vehicle and a pole around 10:38 p.m.

Power lines came down and caught on fire. Occupants of a Honda Civic that was reportedly hit in the area had to wait until the power line situation was deemed safe.

Police received another report an an accident minutes later in a South Main Street parking lot.

Investigators determined that Cello was operating her vehicle west on Main Street when she lost control and crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a utility pole.

She subsequently struck the parked Honda Civic in the lot at 653 Main Street and then continued on Main Street to South Main Street.

She lost control again and hit a Lamborghini in the lot of 897 South Main Street. Her vehicle came to a rest after striking a utility trailer.

Roads in the area were shut down for several hours until repairs could be made.

Cello was charged with DUI, reckless driving, evading responsibility with a motor vehicle and failure to drive right.
