Woman Banned from T.J. Maxx Charged in Southington store Probe

A woman who has been banned from T.J. Maxx stores for alleged fraudulent returns has been arrested again, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A woman who has been banned from T.J. Maxx stores for alleged fraudulent returns has been arrested for trying to orchestrate another fraudulent return, police said.

Elizabeth Riddick, 36, of New Britain, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant, police said. She was charged with first-degree criminal trespass, according to a report.

The case dates back to January when officers investigated a trespassing complaint at the T.J. MAXX, 875 Queen St.

Police said Riddick has a history of being a "persistent larceny offender" at T.J. MAXX stores and a condition of release from a previous case stipulates that she stays at least 100 yards away from any T.J. MAXX store, police said.

On Jan. 18, a "known associate" of Riddick's was observed entering the store and allegedly attempting a fraudulent return.

Investigators followed the associate to the parking lot and Riddick’s vehicle was parked within the 100 yards of the business, police said.

Investigators, acting as agents of T.J. MAXX, requested prosecution, police said.
