2nd Voyeurism Charge Filed For South Windsor Store Incident

A 43-year-old Hartford man is facing a second voyeurism charge related to an incident in South Windsor.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A 43-year-old Hartford man is facing another charge related to a voyeurism incident at a second-hand clothing store in South Windsor, police said.

At 7:20 a.m. on Friday, South Windsor officers arrested Epifanio Mendez, 43, on an active warrant.

Mendez was previously arrested on Jan. 26 on voyeurism and risk of injury to a minor charges. He is accused of viewing and attempting to record a young girl in the changing room of Plato’s Closet at 70 Buckland Road.

During the course of the arrest, Mendez’s phone was seized and "digitally analyzed for any evidence related to the crime or other crimes," according to a report. During the course of the analysis, a 45-second video of a woman that same day at Plato’s Clsoet was located on Mendez’s phone, a report indicates. The video showed the woman from an adjacent changing room at the store while she was trying on clothing, according to a report.

Mendez was charged with voyeurism with malice Friday. He was being held on a $10,000 surety bond and was to be presented in Manchester Superior Court later in the day, police said.
