SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Fourth of July weekend is nearly here, and South Windsor residents have several nearby options for fireworks, concerts, ballgames and community celebrations tied to America’s 250th anniversary.
Independence Day falls on a Saturday in 2026, making July 3-5 a long holiday weekend for many families. Patch has put together a guide to fireworks and July 4 events around South Windsor, with listings in Hartford and Tolland counties.

The 2026 Independence Day season is part of a larger national celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
America’s Block Party is one of the national initiatives tied to America 250, the congressionally chartered nonprofit overseeing the semiquincentennial celebration.
A Times Square Ball Drop is planned as part of the “Giving 4th Broadcast Benefit Show,” with a rolling series of ball drops timed to midnight on July 3 in every U.S. time zone.
A time capsule will be buried in Philadelphia and opened in 2276. Organizers said it will include contributions connected to the federal government, states, Washington D.C. and U.S. territories.
Other national events include the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, the July 4 Salute to America Fireworks, “Sail 4th 250” in New York Harbor and Rushmore 250.
