SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Colony Grill is bringing its signature thin-crust pizza and hot oil topping to South Windsor.

The Connecticut-based restaurant chain announced Monday that it plans to open at 255 Gateway Blvd. in 2027. The restaurant will be part of the new Buckland Gateway development near Evergreen Walk.

Plans call for seating for about 150 customers, an outdoor patio and a full bar with 12 taps. The restaurant will also have several televisions.

"These two towns represent exactly what Colony Grill is about," CEO and co-owner Paul Coniglio said of the chain's newly announced South Windsor and Newington locations. "We've grown this concept around great pizza bringing people together."

The South Windsor restaurant will join other businesses planned for the Gateway development, including DORO Marketplace and Club Pilates.

Colony Grill opened in Stamford in 1935 and built its menu around thin-crust bar pizza, particularly its signature hot oil pie. The company currently has nine restaurants in Connecticut, New York, Virginia and Florida.

The chain is making a broader push into Hartford County. In addition to the South Windsor and Newington restaurants, Colony Grill is preparing to open a location in Glastonbury.

Both the South Windsor and Newington locations are scheduled to open sometime in 2027. A more specific opening date was not announced.
