Man Charged In South Windsor Gas Station Robbery

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — An East Hartford man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a gas station robbery last November in which a clerk was sprayed in the face and $825 was stolen, police said.

Reginald Washington, 48, was arrested on a warrant at 11:10 a.m. Sept. 29, according to a news release from South Windsor police Lt. Mark Cleverdon.

Police said Washington and an accomplice sprayed the clerk with an irritant similar to pepper spray during the robbery at the Exxon station at 5 John Fitch Blvd.

Washington was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, second-degree robbery and third-degree assault.

He was processed and presented at Manchester Superior Court Tuesday. Police said he was already in state custody on charges from other jurisdictions.
