Connecticut Ranked Second-Best State for Working Dads

The personal-finance website WalletHub recently conducted an in-depth analysis of the best and worst states for working dads.​

With Father’s Day approaching and nearly 93 percent of dads with kids younger than 18 in the labor force, the personal-finance website WalletHub recently conducted an in-depth analysis of the Best & Worst States for Working Dads.

Among the 50 states and the District of Columbia, Connecticut ranked second overall with a score of 69.75, just behind top-ranked Minnesota's 70.20.

Among the categories analyzed by the study, here is how Connecticut ranked:

  • 19th – Median Income for Families (Dad Present) with Kids Younger than 18 Years, Adjusted for Cost of Living
  • 2nd – Male Life Expectancy at Birth
  • 2nd – % of Kids Younger than 18 with Dad Present Living in Poverty
  • 7th – Male Uninsured Rate
  • 17th – Mean Hours Worked per Day Among Males
  • 16th – Mortality Rate due to Heart Disease per 100,000 Men
  • 6th – % of Men Who Report Adequate or Any Physical Activity
  • 14th – Average Freshman Graduation Rate for Men
  • 2nd – “Parental Leave Policy” Score
  • 6th – Access to Pediatric Services

The state ranked third in Work-Life Balance and Health, eight in Child Care and 13th in Economic and Social Well-Being.
