Construction, Detours Set on 2 South Windsor Roads
Two projects will alter traffic in town into the month of May, according to police.
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - A pair of roads will be partially closed for the next several weeks due to reconstruction projects, according to the South Windsor Police Department.
On Monday, the Street Services Division began resurfacing Nevers Road between Miller Road and Graham Road. Due to the fact that the contractor has to grind the road and remove asphalt, they will have large pieces of equipment in the roadway. The road will be closed to through traffic with the exception of school buses, residents, and emergency vehicles. There will be one lane open at all times, with flaggers in place, and a marked detour route for all other routine traffic.
The intersecting streets - Linda Lane, Riverside Drive, Wood Pond Road, Eagle Run, and Miller Road - will have signs at their intersections with Nevers Road indicating either detour arrows or road closed, but will remain accessible to the residents and school buses and emergency traffic.

A second project, scheduled to begin Wednesday, involves reconstruction of a culvert on Avery Street. The street will be closed to through traffic between Kelly Road and Woodland Drive until Wednesday May 18. A detour route will be marked and will be in place redirecting traffic from Avery Street to Kelly Road to Willow Street to Woodland Drive and vice versa.
This road closure will have barriers in place and will be maintained 24 hours a day. There will be access for emergency vehicles and residents that live within the closure area. Please avoid this area if at all possible and be aware of possible delays due to the detour, police said.
