Energy Efficiency Gains in South Windsor Expected to Increase as Residents Prepare for Winter Heating Season
Residents still have the opportunity to participate in Energize South Windsor

The Town of South Windsor, the South Windsor Energy Committee, Connecticut Light & Power and Yankee Gas are encouraging South Windsor residents to participate in “Energize South Windsor” before the campaign concludes at the end of the year.
Energize South Windsor is designed to educate and connect residents with Energize Connecticut programs, resources and professionals that will help them save energy and money, and experience a more comfortable home year-round. Energize CT programs are brought to South Windsor residents by energy experts at CL&P and Yankee Gas, together with a network of authorized home improvement professionals.
Since Energize South Windsor launched in July, more than 150 households have participated in Home Energy Solutions℠ (HES), and interest in the program continues to be strong. HES is a convenient in-home service featuring CL&P-authorized energy specialists who perform a thorough energy assessment, make on-the-spot energy improvements including air sealing and lighting upgrades, and provide a comprehensive report detailing additional saving opportunities.

South Windsor Mayor M. Saud Anwar signed the Clean Energy Communities pledge in June, pledging to reduce municipal building energy consumption by 20 percent, attain 20 percent of municipal electricity needs from renewable sources and take other actions to support the deployment of clean energy by 2018. Since then, the town has earned a $10,000 “Bright Idea Grant” through the program, which can be used toward a community energy-saving project.
“By signing the pledge, anytime one of our residents utilizes an Energize Connecticut energy efficiency program, including Home Energy Solutions, they help our community earn grants,” said Mayor Anwar. “This makes the Energize South Windsor campaign not only valuable to our individual residents, but also to the community as a whole.”
