Fuel Truck Carrying 1,700 Gallons of Oil Rolls Over on Smith Street in South Windsor (Updated)
Hazmat crews are on the scene cleaning up the spill and material from the truck.

South Windsor emergency crews are on the scene after fuel truck rolled over on Smith Street Friday afternoon.
Firefighters worked to hold back 1,700 gallons of home heating oil that was spilling out and a hazmat crew was working on removing the material from the overturned truck at about 1:45 p.m., according to police.
Police said that the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with back pain following the crash.

Smith Street is a dead-end road therefore no traffic was impacted.

Update: According to South Windsor Police, “the driver was turning in a cul-de-sac and the vehicle rolled on it’s side. The driver was not seriously hurt but did go to a hospital for exam. The engine and saddle tanks appeared to have leaked a small amount of fuel but it appeared the main tank and its 1,700 gallons was intact. It was pumped out by Environmental Service Inc. of South Windsor, the truck was towed by Tolland Auto and the accident remains under investigation by the SWPD Traffic Unit.”
