• West Nile Virus Detected In South Windsor Mosquitoes (patch.com) — South Windsor residents are being alerted after mosquitoes collected in town tested positive for West Nile virus, joining 21 other affected Connecticut communities. No human cases have been reported, and the town has already treated storm drains and standing water with larvicide. Health officials urge residents to use repellent, cover up at dusk and dawn, and eliminate standing water around homes.

• CT rescue fosters dogs from Middle East to assist nonprofit that helps U.S. troops who saved them (courant.com) — South Windsor resident Jessica Waterhouse is fostering three rescued puppies from the Middle East at her Mazolu Animal Sanctuary while their U.S. service member caretakers finish deployment. Working with nonprofit Paws of War, she's helping the dogs adjust in South Windsor before they're reunited with the troops who saved them, and hopes to offer similar support for other military families' pets.

• New details released in East Windsor child death (fox61.com) — A South Windsor man has been charged with risk of injury after his child was found unresponsive in a pickup truck at an East Windsor farm. Police say the vehicle's interior was "not habitable" for a child given its location and the outside temperature, and prosecutors may consider additional allegations as the investigation continues.
