Hartford Man Charged in South Windsor Convenience Store Robbery

He is also being held on charges of committing other robberies in neighboring towns.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A Hartford man already in court on unrelated charges was served with a warrant by South Windsor police Tuesday, charging him with a Nov. 2016 robbery at a convenience store in that town.

Samuel Copeland, 33, was charged with first-degree robbery, threatening and sixth-degree larceny. He was held on $225,000 bond, and was arraigned Tuesday in Manchester Superior Court.

Copeland is charged with committing a robbery Nov. 26, 2016 at the 7-Eleven store on Ellington Road. During the course of that robbery, Copeland implied he had a weapon and threatened to shoot the store clerk. He fled the scene with less than $200, Deputy Police Chief Scott Custer said.

South Windsor police investigators shared information with Hartford detectives, who were investigating similar robberies. The investigation resulted in Copeland being identified as the suspect and an arrest warrant was later obtained for him, Custer said.

He was already being held on other charges at court when he was arrested Tuesday, and is being held on bonds totaling more than $1.1 million, according to judicial records.
