School Bus May Be Involved In Serious I-291 Crash: State Police

The highway is closed after a crash involving three vehicles.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A school bus may have been involved in a crash that left people seriously injured and closed Interstate 291 westbound Monday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.

Troopers from Troop H responded around 7:45 a.m. to the crash near Exit 2 in South Windsor. State police stressed that the information was preliminary and did not provide details about who was injured or whether children were aboard the bus.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation initially described the collision as involving a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles. The agency reported the crash at 7:58 a.m. and said I-291 west was closed between Exit 2 for Route 5 and Exit 1D for Interstate 91 north.
