Temple Beth Hillel to Host November 22 Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

TEMPLE BETH HILLEL IN SOUTH WINDSOR TO HOST NOVEMBER 22 INTERFAITH THANKSGIVING SERVICE

All Greater Hartford residents are invited to a special live in-person and on-line Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, led by clergy members of different religions. On Monday, November 22 at 7 p.m., Temple Beth Hillel at 20 Baker Lane in South Windsor will host its annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. People do not need to belong to a house of worship to attend this free service.

The annual event will feature inspirational readings and comments, music and songs from Temple Beth Hillel’s Rabbi Jeffrey Glickman and Cantor Scott Harris, and many area clergy. The Rev. Anne Fraley of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in South Windsor will deliver this year’s sermon.

“We are thrilled to be able to return to hosting our annual interfaith service in-person this year, and it also can be viewed live on our Temple’s website and Facebook page,” explains Rabbi Jeffrey Glickman of Temple Beth Hillel. “This event has become a wonderful community-wide tradition, featuring spiritual leaders from a variety of houses of worship in South Windsor and beyond who present different portions of the program. It is an opportunity to showcase how America's treasure is the way we celebrate diversity."

“When I pray in an interfaith community, I am strengthened and lifted up by the truth that I am not alone,” says Cantor Scott Harris of Temple Beth Hillel. “This evening that brings together good people of many faiths, backgrounds, and truths: is a sanctuary filled with gratitude, not just for our gifts, but for the gift of our community beyond our own doorsteps. It is a presence that reminds us that we are here for each other, and with each other.”

Temple Beth Hillel is an inclusive congregation that welcomes interfaith families. The Temple was formed in 1960 in South Windsor and, in 2000, moved into its current building on the 20 Baker Lane, carrying a Torah from the old building to the new. In 2018, its congregation blended with the members of the former Congregation Beth Ahm in Windsor, who crossed the Connecticut River to join Temple Beth Hillel. Affiliated with the Union of Reform Judaism, the Temple holds services in English and Hebrew, has an active religious school, and is involved in social action and social justice. www.tbhsw.org
