MDC Approves Water Rate Hike
The Metropolitan District Commission approved a budget including $22 million increase and a rate hike for consumers.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - Water rates are expected to increase 11 percent after the Metropolitan District Commission approved its budget Monday, the Journal-Inquirer reported. The MDC's $189.4 million budget represents a $22 million increase over the current year.
The increase is tied to fixed costs and infrastructure in need of upgrades. Commissioners did roll back financial support for Riverfront Recapture in an effort to reduce spending.
Rates will rise from $3.14 per hundred cubic feet to $3.50 per hundred cubic feet, the Journal Inquirer reported.
