The investigating officer learned that the victim had been smoking marijuana with acquaintances at the wildlife sanctuary when they encountered two men known to the victim.

The two men, Robinson and Butler, proceeded to assault the victim and took his iPhone, wallet and belt, according to Lt. Scott Custer.

The men tried unsuccessfully to steal the man’s watch, breaking it in the process, according to Custer.

The suspects fled and the victim was brought to the hospital for treatment. Officers later obtained arrest warrants for the two men and served them over the weekend.

Robinson, of 393 Nevers Road, and Butler, of 367 Smith Street, were each charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault, fourth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.

Both men were held on $250,000 surety bond and were scheduled to be presented at Manchester Superior Court Monday morning.
