Picture South Windsor - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from South Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — We return to the pages of an amazing picture book entitled Images of America: South Windsor, compiled in 2017 by Claire Lobdell for the Wood Memorial Library & Museum. The book, containing 128 pages of fascinating photos from the town's history, is available for purchase at the library's museum store here.
On page 79 is a circa 1903 photo of a farmhouse at the corner of Buckland Road and Deming Street. Built in 1853, the home was owned by the Buckland family, among the earliest settlers in South Windsor. The youngster in the picture is Clynton Buckland, who grew up to be a farmer and represented South Windsor in the state legislature in the 1950s.
In later years, the house at 395 Buckland Road was home to a gift shop, then an attorney's office. It was eventually torn down in 2018, and the site is now in commercial development.
