UPDATE: Bank Robbery Suspect Shot By Police Dies
Police say the man led officers on a chase after robbing a bank in South Windsor and approached officers with a weapon despite being Tasered

UPDATE Aug. 16, 10 a.m.: The suspect in the South Windsor bank robbery shot by police on Friday afternoon has died. State Police announced that Christopher T. Anderson, 53, of Hartford, died Sunday night at Hartford Hospital.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a post-mortem examination and assist with the investigation, police said.
The case remains under investigation.

UPDATE Aug. 15 2:45 p.m.: The South Windsor bank robbery suspect who was shot and seriously wounded by officers has been identified as Christopher T. Anderson, 53, of Hartford.
Police have also identified two officers who discharged their firearms and one officer who deployed a taser.

Trooper Brian Contenta from Troop K-Colchester discharged his firearm, police said. Contenta will temporarily be assigned to administrative duty till the investigation is completed. He has been with the Connecticut State Police for five years.
Manchester police officer Layau Eulizier discharged his firearm, police said. A second Manchester police officer, Jason Wagner deployed his Taser.

The South Windsor bank robbery suspect, who was shot by a State Trooper during an encounter following a chase, received emergency care at the scene and was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital for further evaluation, according to State Police Spokesman Trooper First Class Kelly Grant.
The scene was secured and the area closed to all traffic to allow for the investigation to take place. The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad was assigned to respond to conduct the investigation into this incident.
The Trooper was reported to not have sustained any injury. Identifications are pending, according to Grant.
The case remains under investigation by State Police.
Troopers from Troop K-Colchester assisted South Windsor and Manchester Police Departments, in an attempt to stop a vehicle being operated by a male bank robbery suspect, around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
South Windsor Police said First Niagara Bank on Buckland Road was robbed and there were no injuries at the bank.
The male suspect fled South Windsor and refused to stop for South Windsor Police. Manchester Police Department assisted as the vehicle traveled through Manchester, and as the vehicle entered the Route 384/rte. 6 area, Troopers assisted.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Rte. 44 in Bolton, according to Grant.
The vehicle struck the right side of the roadway and became disabled near the intersection of Rte. 44 and Rte. 6, east of the Bolton Notch.
The suspect exited the vehicle, and approached the Trooper and officers with a weapon displayed in his hand, according to Grant.
The male suspect was ordered to stop, however, continued to advance toward the Trooper and officers.
At this point, a Manchester Police Officer discharged his Taser striking the male suspect, according to Manchester Police Capt. Chris Davis.
The suspect, unaffected by the Taser, continued to advance toward the Trooper and officers with the weapon.
The Trooper and a different Manchester Police Officer discharged their duty weapons striking the male suspect, according to Grant.
The Trooper and officers immediately rendered first aid and requested an ambulance to transport the male suspect to Hartford Hospital for evaluation.
Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime (EDMC) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Investigators from the New London State’s Attorney’s Office also responded to the scene, along with members of both Manchester and South Windsor Police Departments.
