South Windsor Appoints New Police Chief

Acting Chief Timothy M. Edwards officially becomes South Windsor's fifth Chief of Police.

South Windsor Town Manager Matthew Galligan has appointed Chief Timothy M. Edwards to the permanent position of Chief of Police, the department announced on Thursday morning.

The move is effective Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Edwards is a 27-year veteran of the South Windsor Police Department and has served as acting Chief since June when Chief Matt Reed retired.

Reed, who holds a law degree, now works as labor attorney at the Hartford-based law firm Metzger Lazarek and Plumb.

A swearing-in ceremony will be held within the next few weeks and details will be announced soon, according to Lt. Scott Custer.
