South Windsor Child Abuse Case Leads To 4 Arrests

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - Four people were arrested Monday in connection with a child abuse case at a day care center. According to police, the investigation began in April after a complaint of a teacher was using a "rough and aggressive" manner with children in her care on three occasions.

The complaint also alleged that the center's management was made aware of the abuse but did not report it to state authorities, which is required by mandatory reporting laws.

South Windsor police worked with the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood and Department of Children and Families to investigate the case, leading to the following arrests:

• Ashley Swietek, 25, of South Windsor, was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor and released on $75,000 bond.
• Marjorie Glater, 74, of South Windsor, was charged with failure of mandated reporter to report abuse and released on $25,000 bond.
• Nicole Moriarty, 36, of South Windsor, was charged with failure of mandated reporter to report abuse and released on $25,000 bond.
• Brandy Novack, 44, of Coventry, was charged with failure of mandated reporter to report abuse and released on $5,000 bond.
