South Windsor Commission Approves Plans For Big-Box Store
A national retailer's bid for a tax abatement has been approved by a town commission.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - The Economic Development Commission has approved a proposal from Costco to provide a 60 percent tax abatement for its $16.7 million Evergreen Walk proposal, according to The Journal-Inquirer. The town council will vote on the proposal Monday, which is expected to bring in $3.6 million in new tax revenues.
The project is expected to cost $42 million and would be built on a 16-acre property at 100 Cedar Ave., behind LA Fitness. It's also anticipated to create 150 jobs.
The membership-only warehouse currently has locations in six Connecticut towns. Costco is exploring options for a tax-fixing agreement with the Town of South Windsor.

The commission also approved a 50 percent tax abatement for a day care facility that plans to move in on Ellington Road, according to The Journal-Inquirer.
