South Windsor Election Results 2016: The Winners are Revealed

Here is how South Windsor voted in the 2016 election.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Registered voters in South Windsor had an early start to the polls on Nov. 8 for the 2016 election, and the momentum continued until the balloting closed at 8 p.m.

Here are the unofficial results of how South Windsor voted, posted by the secretary of the state:

  • (D) Clinton and Kaine - 6,875 - 54.90 percent
  • (R) Trump and Pence - 5,074 - 40.52 percent
  • (L) Johnson and Weld - 423 - 3.38 percent
  • (G) Stein and Baraka - 150 - 1.20 percent

  • (D) Richard Blumenthal - 7,246 - 58.81 percent
  • (R) Dan Carter - 4,242 - 34.43 percent
  • (WF) Blumenthal - 591 - 4.80 percent

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — South Windsor residents headed to the polls Tuesday for the 2016 midterm election. Polling places in South Windsor are now closed.

Early reports indicated a strong voter turnout. In the first three hours of balloting, about 35 South Windsor residents had registered to vote under Connecticut's new same-day registration law, according to election workers Katie Graham and Judi Mercadante.

"It was a very speedy and efficient process, and I voted in the same place," resident Wendy Winn said after newly registering at Town Hall. "It alleviated all the long lines."

In South Windsor, the race for the 3rd Senatorial District involves Democratic incumbent Timothy Larson and Republican challenger Carolyn Streeter Mirek. Larson is completing his first term. Mirek serves as Deputy Mayor of South Windsor.

In the 11th State House District, Democratic incumbent Jeff Currey is running unopposed.

In the 14th State House District, six-term Republican incumbent Bill Aman is not seeking re-election. The candidates are Republican Thomas Delnicki, mayor of South Windsor, and Democrat Saud Anwar, a former South Windsor mayor.

Registrar of voters candidates are Democrat Sue Larsen and Republican Sue Burnham.

The candidates for president and vice president are Republicans Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, and Green Party Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.

For United States Senate, the candidates are Democratic incumbent Richard Blumenthal, Republican Dan Carter, Libertarian Richard Lion and Green Party Jeffery Russell.

For United States Congress, the choice is between Democratic incumbent John Larson, Republican Matthew Corey and Green Party candidate S. Michael DeRosa.
