South Windsor Fire Department's Memorial Garden Gets Makeover

The garden at the department's headquarters was rebuilt by Andrew Hofmann of Boy Scout Troop 880, for his Eagle Scout Service Project.

The South Windsor Fire Department’s Memorial Garden at headquarters recently received a makeover thanks to an Eagle Scout Service Project by Andrew Hofmann from Boy Scout Troop 880.

The SWFD was honored to be chosen as a recipient of an EAGLE SCOUT service Project. The project was run by Mr. Andrew Hofmann from Boy Scout Troop 880 and involved a re-build of the SWFD Memorial Garden at Fire HQ. The project was supported with contributions from over 50 Scout and adult volunteers, including FD members, Jay Samsel, Jay Murtha, William Mitchell, totaling over 250 hours of service, planning and executing, the removal of old bushes and replanting of new bushes, trimming of trees, new stone work, memorial plaques polished, the front of Fire HQ pressure washed and the tree plaques polished.
