South Windsor Obituary: Janusz Pietkevich, 62

Condolences to his family and friends.

Janusz “John” Pietkevich, 62, of Ellington, formerly of South Windsor passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Rockville General Hospital.

John was born on October 23, 1955 in Dlugie, Poland, the son of Kazimiera Pietkevich. John immigrated to Stamford with his family in 1970. He also lived in Trumbull, before moving to South Windsor, where he lived for over 20 years.

John was currently employed by General Electric as a Senior Designer and has been with the company for over 20 years. He had a passion for running, old western movies and the original Star Trek series. He was a handyman and could fix anything.

He enjoyed spending time at Wildwood, New Jersey. Throughout his life he loved the outdoors and could frequently be found running, hiking, and enjoying all that nature had to offer. He was a hardworking, and loving provider for his family. John will always be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, and uncle.

Along with his mother, Kazimiera Pietkevich of Monroe, he is survived by his children, Tracy Pietkevich of East Longmeadow, Holly Pilatti and her husband Nicholas of South Windsor, Matthew John Pietkevich of West Hartford, and Deanna Pietkevich of Manchester; his sister, Marta Czernik, and her husband Edward of Easton; his nieces Christie Stromberg and Laura Czernik; and his former wife, Ann Marie Pietkevich of South Windsor. He was predeceased by his grandmother “Babcia” Genowefa Pietrzkiewicz whom he loved dearly.

His family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 4-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, 11 a.m., directly at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
