
Kenneth Burton Sinkwitz, born September 4, 1938, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
Born and raised in Hartford, he was an honors graduate of Hartford Public High School, and graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Social and Political Science. Ken taught for 35 years in South Windsor, retiring in 1998. Parents knew that their student was well prepared for Middle School because of Mr. Sinkwitz. He enjoyed his continued connection to several students throughout the years.
He is predeceased by his father, William C. Sinkwitz, Sr., his mother Mary Braun Sinkwitz, his two brothers William J. Sinkwitz, Jr. and Herman Sinkwitz, and two beloved cousins, Shirley Edmond and Betty Kennedy.

He has resided in Windsor since 1990. Ken was an active member of Saint Joseph Church in the Poquonock section of Windsor, having served after his retirement as a lector, member of the Scholarship Committee, Confirmation teacher, and a member of the Parish Council. He also volunteered for the Archdiocese of Hartford as a trained facilitator for the adult workshops on the Safe Environment Program for children, called "Protecting God's Children." In 2014 Ken was honored with the prestigious Hartford Archidocese St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation for his dedicated service to his parish.
In addition to his activities with his church Ken worked part time as a historic interpreter at the Mark Twain House in Hartford. Upon retirement Ken began to learn how to play the piano, continuing lessons to the end of his life. An avid skier, Ken skied in many places around the world. He enjoyed traveling, visiting Key West, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe. After retirement he continued his love of travel with incredible trips to Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific WWII islands, Bora Bora, Tahitti, and traveling two weeks by freighter to the remote Marquesa Islands.

Ken leaves behind two cousins, David Edmond and Susan Edmond Lombardo, and many dear friends. He also leaves a special friend, John Piscitello, whose friendship spanned 60 years, and his beloved cat, Princess.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor. Family and friends may gather at 9 AM on Monday, August 14 at the funeral home to follow in procession to a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave Windsor, followed by burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
