Lorraine Ann Willis Wanza, 79, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.
Born in Hartford to the late Sarah and William H. Willis, she graduated from Bloomfield High School and Cheney State College in Pennsylvania. She was an elementary school teacher for many years, retiring from the Hartford Public School system. Lorraine was a proud member of Epsilon Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. for fifty-three years and a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Hartford.
She is survived by her son Herbert "Herbie" Wanza, III and her daughter Yvonne Wanza, both of South Windsor; her sisters Marjorie Willis Hill and her husband Audabon of Bloomfield, and Valerie Willis Polk of Philadelphia, PA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother William M. Willis and her sister Evelyn Willis Wiggins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 20 at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor followed by burial in Mt. View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Her family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 AM to 11 AM.
