
Milton Q. Johnson, 91, of South Windsor beloved husband of the late Ann (McKenna) Johnson passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 3, 1926 in Springfield, MA; son of the late Carl and Dorothy (White) Johnson. Milton grew up in Thompson, and was a graduate of Tourtellotte High School, where he served as class president and captain of the basketball team. During World War II, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy on his 17th birthday and served as a Gunners Mate 3rd Class on USS Breckinridge.
Milton then attended the University of Connecticut where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering and pursued a career with the State of Connecticut. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, volleyball, playing corn hole, and cards. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, New York Giants and UConn. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Rhode Island shore.

A beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Milton is survived by his children, Elizabeth Collins and her husband Joseph of Topsfield, MA, Ellyn Johnson of South Windsor, Daniel Johnson and his wife Amy of Alexandria, VA, and Nora Jones and her husband Mark of Willington; six grandchildren, John and Martin Collins, Nancy Johnson, Sarah Pease and her husband Stephen and McKenna and Trevor Jones; a special nephew Roy Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Barbeau and Lee Ulitsch; his beloved cat, Scout, the Koepper Family, and several friends and neighbors on Kelly Road. In addition to his wife Ann, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Johnson.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
