SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — South Windsor Town Manager Michael Maniscalco Monday released a statement following regional protests about the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.

Here is the text:

"Given the recent events and the death of George Floyd I think it is important to reaffirm our communities’ commitment to each and every resident no matter race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or other belief. Everyone should feel safe and respected within their home and their community, especially South Windsor.
"As a town, we continue to work every day and across every department to treat people with
respect, equity and fairness. People who visit or live in South Windsor should rest assured that they will be treated fairly and with dignity based on their actions not any other reason.
"We firmly support and encourage everyone’s right to free speech and peaceful protest.
Moreover, we stand with anyone who wishes to practice this founding principle of being
American."
