South Windsor Participating in 'Emergency of Hunger' Food Drive
Collections will take place this weekend.

From the South Windsor Police Department:
The Town of South Windsor is participating in the fifth annual “Emergency of Hunger” food drive.
This is a friendly competition between the local emergency and public service agencies to collect food and cash donations for area food banks and shelters.

The local teams are comprised of police, fire, public works and EMS professionals, as well as citizens and Rotary Club volunteers from the communities of South Windsor, Manchester, Vernon, Enfield, and Windsor.
This is year six and thus far the events have collected: 147,000 food and personal care items, 4170 turkeys and over $95,000 in cash, checks and gift cards.

The local collection points are listed below, flyers listing priority items will be handed out at the grocery store entrances, donations will be collected at the exits. We hope that citizens will help us with this charitable endeavor. It is our hope that people will use this event to help our neighbors who are in need year-round.
Locally, the South Windsor Police Department and volunteers will join with Stop and Shop and Geisslers’ to host a food drive on Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday, November 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Collections will take place at Stop and Shop, 1739 Ellington Road and Geissler’s Supermarket, 965 Sullivan Avenue.
All food items and donations will go to the South Windsor Food Bank to help those in need during the holiday season.
