South Windsor Police Arrests Include Assault, DUI, Drug Charges

Recent arrests by the South Windsor Police Department.

The following information has been provided by the South Windsor Police Department and does not indicate convictions:

Unlawful Restraint/Assault in the Third degree:

Jordan Tyler, 36, of 45 Wapping Ave. in South Windsor, was arrested April 22 on a warrant and charged with second-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault and breach of peace. Police said the charges stem from an incident that took place at his home earlier in the month but was not immediately reported.

Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol:

Daniel Smith, 36, of 122 Beelzebub Road in South Windsor, was arrested April 21 on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive in proper lane.

Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at about 1:30 a.m. on Beelzebub Road. A vehicle had struck a utility pole but there were no injuries. The officers suspected the operator was under the influence of alcohol. Following a series of roadside sobriety tests officers arrested the man, Smith. He was later released on a $500 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear in court on May 5.

Edith Bennett, 58, of 13 Fifth Street in Waterbury, was arrested April 18 on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive in proper lane. A South Windsor police officer stopped a vehicle on John Fitch Blvd. around 2 a.m. for a violation. The officer suspected the operator, Bennett, was under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested following a series of roadside sobriety tests.

Failure to Appear in the Second degree:

Saidi Campbell, 39, of 139 Glenn St. in New Britain, was arrested April 22 on two re-arrest warrants and charged with two counts of second-degree failure to appear and was later released on $300 cash bond. He was scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on May 7.

Lina VanEpps, 46, of 141 Troy Road in South Windsor, was arrested April 23 on a re-arrest warrant and charged with second-degree failure to appear.

Depaul Greenwood, 30, of 25 Frances Hunter Drive in New Haven, was arrested April 23 on two re-arrest warrants and charged with two counts of second-degree failure to appear. He was later released on $500 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in court on May 7. Greenwood’s charges stem from missed court dates for motor vehicle violations.

Alexander Martinez, 42, of Hartford, was arrested April 14 on two counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Larceny in the Fifth degree:

Justin Gay, 18, of East Hartford was arrested April 9 on a warrant and charged with fifth-degree larceny. Gay’s charge stems from a February incident in which his employer learned he’d stolen an iPad.

Criminal Violation of a Protective Order/Breach of Peace:

Aaron Oldenburg, 24, of 223 Lefoll Blvd. in South Windsor, was arrested April 14 on a warrant and charged with criminal violation of a protective order and threatening. Oldenburg’s charges stem from a previous case in which he was at his Lefoll Blvd. home in violation of a protective order and engaged in a threatening argument with a family member.

Possession of Controlled Substance:

On Thursday, April 16, a South Windsor Police officer stopped a vehicle on Route 5 for a violation. The officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search of the operator and vehicle, officers found marijuana and 80 packets of heroin.

Officers arrested the man, Lamel Brooks, 26, of 395 Edgewood St. in Hartford. He was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana, and failure to display license plate.

Violation of Probation:

Tymus Ford, 23, of 1101 Summer Hill Drive in South Windsor, was arrested April 17 on a warrant and charged with violation of probation.
