South Windsor Police Arrests Include Risk of Injury to a Minor, Burglary Charges

Recent arrests by the South Windsor Police Department.

The following information has been provided by the South Windsor Police Department and does not indicate convictions:

Failure to Pay or Plead:

On Thursday, Aug. 13, South Windsor Police arrested Matthew Pelletier, 22, of 174 Woodland Drive, South Windsor, on an arrest warrant. He was charged with failure to pay or plead on an infraction ticket and was later released on $150 cash bond. Pelletier is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 27. Pelletier’s charge stems from an unanswered infraction ticket he received in March 2015 for Possession of Marijuana (less than ½ ounce) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Criminal Violation of a Protective Order:

On Friday, Aug. 14, at about 2 a.m., a South Windsor Police officer stopped a vehicle on Pleasant Valley Road for a violation. During the roadside interview, the officer learned that the passenger in the vehicle was prohibited from having any contact with the operator. The man was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Officers arrested the man, Steven Edwards, 40, of 174 Goodwin Street, East Hartford. He was charged with criminal violation of a protective order and possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana. Edwards was later released on a $10,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 17.

Burglary in the 3rd degree/Criminal Trespass in the Second degree:

On Aug. 16, at about 6:30 p.m., South Windsor Police responded to a business on Nutmeg Road North. Employees there had interrupted a burglary to the business; the suspect had fled leaving a van behind. Officers later located and arrested the vehicle owner, Nian Sturges, 56, of 29 Brentwood Drive, Bloomfield. He was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief. Sturges was later released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 27.

Risk of Injury to a Minor:

On Sunday, Aug. 16, at about 2 a.m., South Windsor Police responded to a domestic dispute at a High Ridge Road home. Officers learned that a physical dispute between a man and his son-in-law had occurred in front of their extended family including children. The family members attempted to break up the fight which caused them all to be involved in a struggle, including a 10 year old child. Officers arrested both men, Eliseu Azinheira, 43, of 50 High Ridge Road, South Windsor and Joshua Monteiro, 21, of 192 Monroe St., East Hartford. Both men were charged with risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace. They were both released on $2,500 cash bond and were scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 17.

Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol:

On Sunday, Aug. 16, at about 1 a.m., a South Windsor Police officer stopped a vehicle on Sullivan Avenue for a violation. Officers suspected the man was under the influence of alcohol. Following a roadside interview officers arrested the man, Anthony Bogoslofski, 43, of 730 Sullivan Ave., South Windsor. During a search, officers found that he had a small amount of cocaine in his possession. Bogoslofski was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, disobeying an officer’s signal, and possession of cocaine. Bogoslofski was later released on a $2,500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 31.
