South Windsor Police Blotter: April 29 - May 2

April 29
Anjan Valand, 37, of 134 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
- Around 8:30 p.m., an officer working a DWI checkpoint on Route 5 spoke with a motorist who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Following a series of roadside sobriety tests, officers arrested Valand. He was later released on $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on May 9, 2016.
Denroy Robinson, 19, of 40 Benjamin Way, South Windsor, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor.
- Around 9 p.m., an officer working a DWI checkpoint on Route 5 spoke with a motorist and noted an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car. The motorist admitted smoking marijuana and being in possession of alcohol. During a search of the car, the officer located marijuana, a scale with marijuana residue and packaging materials. Officers arrested Robinson, who was later released on $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on May 12, 2016.
May 2
Shawn Brooks, 45, of 11 West View Drive, Bloomfield, was charged with second-degree breach of peace.
- The charge stems from an April 2, 2016 breach of peace complaint in which Brooks and another man argued. The other man in the verbal dispute threatened to go to his vehicle, retrieve a gun and shoot Brooks. The investigation found both men had violated the Breach of Peace statute, and arrest warrants were later obtained and served on them. Brooks was later released on a $2,500 non-surety bond, and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on May 12, 2016.
