Police made the arrests early Monday morning.

South Windsor Police charged three people with shooting pellet guns at street signs and homes around town early Monday morning.

Police responded to a suspicious circumstances complaint on Chapel Road by Pleasant Valley Road at about 1 a.m.

While en route to the call, an officer made note of the license plate of a vehicle leaving the area and met with the homeowner, according to Deputy Chief Scott Custer.

Custer said officers then responded to the registered owner’s home (of the previously mentioned vehicle) in East Hartford and interviewed the driver.

The man, Christopher Porter, admitted that he, a friend and a 17-year-old male had been driving around shooting pellets at street signs and homes, according to Custer.

Officers arrested the two men, Porter, 22, of 60 Murray Street, East Hartford, and Malik McCalop, 18, of 42 Murray Street, East Hartford. They were charged with risk of injury to a minor and third-degree criminal mischief for involving the juvenile in the criminal mischief activity.

Both Porter and McCalop were later released on a $2,000 non-surety bond and are scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Oct. 15. The juvenile was issued a summons to Juvenile Court at Rockville.
