South Windsor Police Charge Wanted Man with Burglary

Police responded to Chicopee, Mass. where the former resident was awaiting extradition and brought back to town and arrested.

South Windsor Police returned former resident Barry Simspon to town last week where he was arrested on charges stemming from an alleged burglary at a Twin Circle Drive home.

Police responded to Chicopee, Massachusetts Court on Aug. 12 to serve an arrest warrant on Simspon, 49, who was being held there awaiting extradition to Connecticut.

The arrest stems from an incident on Monday, Aug. 10 when South Windsor Police responded to a Twin Circle Drive home for a burglary complaint.

Officers determined that Simpson had broken into the condominium there in violation of a restraining order and then fled the scene, according to Lt. Scott Custer.

Officers alerted Massachusetts authorities that a valid arrest warrant with extradition was in place from a previous case.

Officers in Chicopee, Mass. located and arrested Simpson.

South Windsor officers obtained an arrest warrant for Simpson, of 26 Blanan Drive, Chicopee, Mass., for the burglary and when he was returned to Connecticut he was also charged with criminal violation of a restraining order, first-degree criminal trespass, third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He was held on a $150,000 surety bond and presented at Manchester Superior Court on Thursday, Aug. 13.
