On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, I notified my staff of my intent to retire from my position as Chief of Police effective August 15, 2015. For more than 27 years I have served the community of South Windsor to the best of my ability. I have truly enjoyed coming to work week after week. What has made this job most enjoyable has been the experiences I have had interacting with the many wonderful citizens, volunteers, fellow employees and the many great law enforcement leaders throughout the state. My goal has always been to contribute to South Windsor in helping to make it a great place to live, work and prosper.

While I will be forever grateful for the experiences and opportunities I have had in South Windsor, there are other opportunities that I would like to pursue. I have been offered a position with a law firm in Hartford and I am excited to move on to this next phase of my working life.

I am immensely proud of the men and women of the South Windsor Police Department and I respect the work they do day after day. I hope that my twenty-seven years with the department, including the past five years as Chief, have served to support and further enhance law enforcement services in South Windsor.

I will remain in South Windsor raising my family and taking advantage of all of the great things that South Windsor has to offer.

I expect that my last day in the office will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

Warm regards,

MR

Matthew D. Reed
