South Windsor Responders Participating in 'Emergency of Hunger' Food Drive
The drive is designed to collect donations to get area food banks through the holidays.

VERNON, CT — It's time again for the "Emergency of Hunger" Food Drive.
And it is scheduled to start this weekend with local firefighters, police officers, EMS professionals , hospital staff, Rotary and others collecting food for Thanksgiving and the holidays that follow to help distributorships in the area.
Sean Norton, the business development and community relations supervisor fer the Paramedic Ambulance Service of Manchester, said the wider goal of the food drive is, "to make a deep and widening impact on hunger in greater Hartford."

The 2016 version of the food drive was announced at a Wednesday news conference at The ambulance Service of Manchester.
The drive is now in its "eighth year with continued growth," Norton said.

To date the drive has collected 210,000 food and personal care items, 6,000 turkeys and hams and more than $143,000 in cash, checks and gift cards, Norton said.
Stop & Shop Locations for the drive are:
- Manchester: 286 Broad Street — Nov. 12, 13, 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Vernon: 50 Windsorville Road — Nov. 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Vernon: 10 Pitkin Road — November 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- South Windsor: 1739 Ellington Road — Nov. 19 and 20 from 9 a.m to 5:30 p.m.
- Windsor: 1095 Kennedy Road — Nov. 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
