South Windsor School Evacuated Over Pipe Burst (Updated)

A pipe burst in a teacher's lounge.

A South Windsor school has been evacuated due to a pipe burst in a teacher’s lounge, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports that International Magnet School For Global Citizenship, located at 625 Chapel Road, was evacuated and crews were on the scene. Buses were also sent to provide shelter for the students due to the extreme cold.

Extreme cold caused the pipe to burst and it set off the fire alarm, according to NBC. The gas company also responded to the scene along with firefighters after first responders detected a smell of gas.

The gas company confirmed the odor was just stagnant water and the students were allowed to reenter the building, according to NBC.
