South Windsor Vandalism Incidents Spur Extra Patrols

South Windsor police are investigating reports of renegade ATV riders causing damage.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Residents can expect an increased police presence along the Connecticut River in South Windsor as authorities investigate vandalism at local farm fields.

The targets have been privately owned farm fields and wooded areas between the river and Main Street, police said. All-terrain vehicle operators have been "intentionally" damaging crops, police said.

Police said officers will be patrolling Main Street and the areas west of Main Street utilizing all-wheel drive vehicles, mountain bikes and the department's Gator utility vehicle.

Video surveillance has also been set up, police said.

Violators may be subject to fines and arrest, police said.

Anyone observing the "illegal use of ATVs" or noticing trespassers in the Main Street or Vibert Road area is asked to contact SWPD Dispatch at 860-644-2551.
