South Windsor Woman Interrupts Home Burglary

The woman arrived home to find a man in her kitchen, apparently holding a gun in his hand. Police are investigating.

South Windsor Police are investigating an early Sunday morning incident in which a resident interrupted a burglary at her home.

The woman, a resident of the Twin Circle Drive condominiums, called police at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 13 to report she had just interrupted a burglary at her home.

The woman told police that she returned to her home in building 5 just before 1 a.m.

When she opened her front door she saw a tall, thin black male who appeared to be in his mid-20s dressed in all black standing in her kitchen, according to Deputy Chief Scott Custer.

The male had a hooded sweatshirt on and had what appeared to be a handgun in his hand. The homeowner ran out of the condo and called 911. Officers searched for the suspect with a canine unit but were unable to locate anyone in the area, according to Custer.

Entry had been gained to the first floor condo unit via an open window.

Custer reminds residents to secure windows and doors when not home and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
