South Windsor's Bolden Gives Falcons a Boost in Lopsided Win

Sophomore Olivia Bolden continued her dominant start to the season to help lead the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team Tuesday night.

Wallingford’s Liz Falcigno scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Albertus Magnus women’s basketball team to a 90-32 rout over Medgar Evers in a non-conference game Tuesday night in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Falcigno, a junior guard, made 8-of-11 shots from the floor and connected on 4-of-6 shots from 3-point range. She also recorded three steals.

Sophomore forward Olivia Bolden, of South Windsor, continued her dominant start to the season, pouring in 19 points and grabbing four rebounds to go along with a team-high four steals.

The Falcons improved to 4-3 with the win, while the Cougars are still looking for their first win and dropped to 0-7.

Albertus Magnus forced a season-high 30 turnovers and held Medgar Evers to just over 22 percent shooting. The Falcon depth was evident in the victory, outscoring the Cougars reserves, 33-2.

Albertus Magnus never trailed in the contest and shot over 81 percent from the free-throw line (18-of-22).

The Falcons controlled play in both the post and in transition, outscoring the Cougars, 36-12, in the paint and 14-2 on fast breaks.

Off the bench, sophomore guard Angelina Piccirillo (of Naugatuck) and freshman forward Zaria Cobbs (Elmsford, N.Y.) were the other Falcons in double figures, adding 10 and 11 points, respectively.

Senior starters Olivia Sutherland (of Wallingford) and Kelsey Pendagast (of Shelton) also played well for Albertus. Sutherland scored nine points and dished out six assists, while Pendagast grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

Offensively, Danyelle Foster was the lone Cougar to score in double digits, finishing with 13 points and pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds.
