State Trooper, Manchester Officer Cleared in 2015 Shooting of South Windsor Bank Robbery Suspect

The man was shot after a chase from South Windsor to Manchester to Bolton.

MANCHESTETR, CT — A state trooper and Manchester police officer have been cleared in the 2015 fatal shooting of a suspect in a South Windsor bank robbery.

Fox 61 reported on a state investigation on Monday.

In August 2015, Christopher Anderson, 53, of Hartford, was killed by police. He was suspected of robbing the First Niagara Bank in South Windsor at around 3 p.m. on Aug. 14 that year and fled in his car, leading police on a chase through Manchester into Bolton, according to police records.

When he exited the vehicle, he approached police with a weapon in his hands, according to police records.

Manchester police officer Jason Wagner fired his Taser, but Anderson removed the prongs and continued advancing toward police, records indicate.

Manchester officer Layau Eulizier and state police trooper Brian Contenta then fired their duty weapons, striking Anderson. He was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, the statement said.
