Stolen Vehicle Recovered from River in South Windsor

Police and fire crews recovered a Hummer out of the water Tuesday morning that was determined to have been stolen.

SOUTH WINDSOR -- South Windsor Police were notified of a car in the water near the Vibert Road boat launch at about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday morning (March 1).

The vehicle, a tan 2003 Hummer H2, was determined to have been stolen from a Main Street residence last week, according to Deputy Chief Scott Custer.

The vehicle was recovered and the burglary/larceny investigation continues.

Anyone with information about the burglary/vehicle theft which occurred at 9 Main Street is requested to contact the South Windsor Police at 860-644-2551.

The South Windsor Fire Department assisted police with the recovery.

Using cold water suits, crews were able to access the vehicle and verify it was not occupied and assisted the towing crew with the removal from the river, according to fire officials.
