HVCC is a private, nonprofit human services agency located in Vernon, CT, dedicated to meeting the needs of the residents of Vernon and Tolland County. HVCC’s Food Pantry helps families and individuals by providing food donations to those who meet income and residency requirements, giving much-needed emergency assistance to those suffering from food insecurity.
“The need for food donations at the HVCC Food Pantry is still critical, with more food going out than coming in,” said David Engelson, CEO, Hockanum Valley Community Council. “All of our community food pantries are facing challenges. Picking up a premade bag of food from your local Stop & Shop and dropping it into the food bin provided by the store truly does help us out. We urge you to not walk away, and to do your part, whatever that may be.”

“It is truly rewarding to see such support for individuals who rely on the food pantry yet our efforts must continue to fight hunger in our local communities.” said Ron Ogulewicz, store manager of the Vernon Stop & Shop. “Our first food drive was successful and provided staples for the food pantry but our need continues and we really appreciate any items our customers can provide to those in need. At Stop & Shop we are committed to being a community partner and helping those in need in any way we can and we are grateful that our customers are there to help us in our efforts.”
DETAILS: Lists of needed items are available at all stores, including non-perishable items such as peanut butter, pasta and jelly. Items purchased can be left in a bin at the store and will be picked up by the Hockanum Valley Council each day.
