SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A suspect in a shooting in the parking lot of a South Windsor business Tuesday has been extradited from Massachusetts and has been charged by local police with several felony crimes.

Alan Rosario, 33, of Springfield, Mass., was charged Wednesday with second-degree assault with a firearm, first-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm and third-degree assault. Bail has been set at $250,000.

Police Sgt. Mark Cleverdon said a person was shot in the leg, and another person sustained injuries from bullet fragments around 8:43 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot at 105 Edwin Road, off Route 5. Neither victim's injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect, later identified as Rosario, fled northbound on Interstate 91 into Enfield, where a police officer aware of a lookout for his vehicle spotted it and executed a traffic stop just over the state line in Longmeadow. Massachusetts state police took Rosario into custody and held him at the Springfield barracks as a fugitive from justice until his extradition, Cleverdon said.

A pistol believed used in the shooting was recovered from Rosario's vehicle at the time he was apprehended, Cleverdon said.
